How to Begin Business with Heat Transfer Paper As you know heat transferring allows you to create your own custom clothing, bags, mousepads and  other fabric items. Simply design the image you want, print it onto one of our heat transfer papers and transfer it onto your item. It's as easy as that! What you need: •  Inkjet or laser printer •  Artwork/Photograph •  Heat Transfer paper •  Heat press (required for certain transfer papers) or a hand iron (hand iron requires hard surface and  pillowcase) •  T-shirt or other item to receive transfer The Basics of Heat Transfer: Heat transferring begins with an image being printed in reverse (or mirrored) onto a piece of high  release transfer paper. The image is usually printed onto the paper with plastisol inks, which are flexible and durable, but normal inks also work well. The transfer is then applied to garments, mouse pads, and  other fabric surfaces, by using a heat press or a hand iron. The heat press generally works better by  allowing more heat and pressure to assist the transferring process, however, hand irons may be used as long as they can reach temperatures of up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. The process of transferring an image from the paper to the garment typically takes 15-20 seconds with a heat press (2-4 minutes when using a  hand iron) and does not require a drying or curing process once applied. However, please refer to your  transfer papers specific instructions included with the paper for the correct transfer instructions.  Click  here for downloadable transfer paper instructions. If you would like to print on light colored fabric, you have to use the heat transfer paper and you cannot print the white,

 where the heat transfer paper is transparent. Where there is white in design, you can see the light color of the fabric.

 You cannot wash the fabric easily which has been printed with inkjet transfer paper. If you would like the fabric which 

is printed by the heat transfer paper to last longer, you will have to follow the washing instruction very carefully.

Dye sublimation heat transfer paper

The other heat transfer paper which is used for the printing on the light or white colored paper is the dye sublimation

 heat transfer paper. The process of the dye sublimation heat transfer paper is as follows –

For using this technology, the substrate of the material must be a mix of the polyester and cotton in which the 

percentage of the polyester should be at 50%. You can use the substrates of nylon and microfiber also. This 

process uses the sublimation ink with the dye sublimation printer. The process is effective in the sense that the 

printer ink directly becomes gas with becoming the liquid. 

So, the process becomes time-effective as it does not need time for drying. You can use any material which has 

polyester coating for this process for printing. You can do the printing on various items like T-shirts, bags and other

 items using this process as the finishing of the item is excellent. The cost of printing is also very less, so it is very

 cost effective.

Sublimation printing technology offers ultimate and perfect digital transfer printing quality!

The technology is based on the chemical properties of the special inkjet sublimation ink. Due to its components 

sublimation ink sublimes (sublimation: chemical process, from solid phase it changes into gas phase directly) above

 a certain temperature (above about 150 °C), and during this process it gets transferred into the surface of the printed 

object. The ink molecules become structural part of the printed object so the print gets impalpable and long-lasting.

Proper raw materials are essential for sublimation heat transfer paper process; these are synthetic textiles (usually

 polyester) and other solid objects (e.g. wood, metal and ceramics) with a special sublimation varnish-coated surface. Unfortunately sublimation technique is not suitable for 100% cotton, leather materials or untreated

 glass, metal, wood and ceramic surfaces. Varnish coating that is compatible with sublimation printing technique is

 usually applied to the surface in the factories, but it can also be purchased separately in case you wish to produce

 custom series.
